Riley Keough posts heartbreaking tribute to mom Lisa Marie Presley 6 months after her death
Riley Keough has taken to social media to write a heartfelt and emotional tribute to her late mother Lisa Marie Presley, who sadly passed away six months ago.
News that the 54-year-old singer-songwriter had died rocked the world, especially given that two days before her passing she was seen at the Golden Globes to support Baz Luhrmann’s blockbuster biopic about her father Elvis Presley, who died when Lisa Marie was just nine years old in 1977.
Austin Butler ended up taking home a Golden Globe for his role in the film on January 10, with Lisa Marie gushing about the young actor on the red carpet and saying that she thought he did a magnificent job in portraying her father and that the movie touched her deeply.
Austin equally returned her admiration, even thanking her in his acceptance speech. “I also want to thank our incredible producers and Warner Bros and the Presley family, thank you guys, thank you for opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me. Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I love you forever,” he said, per the Daily Mail.
However, on January 12, Lisa Marie’s mother Priscilla, 78, took to Twitter to announce that her daughter had been rushed to hospital, writing: “My beloved daughter Lisa Marie was rushed to the hospital. She is now receiving the best care. Please keep her and our family in your prayers. We feel the prayers from around the world, and ask for privacy during this time.”

Hours later news outlets reported that Lisa Marie had sadly died after being declared brain dead and placed in a medically induced coma upon her arrival at the hospital. She left behind three daughters – actress Riley Keough, 34, and 14-year-old twins Harper Vivienne Ann Lockwood and Finley Aaron Love Lockwood.
This week, on the six month anniversary of her mother’s passing, Riley took to Instagram to post an emotional tribute – an image of her late mother next to Riley’s younger brother Benjamin Keough, who died by suicide on July 12, 2020, aged 27.
“Missing you both,” she wrote on the black and white image, adding a red heart emoji.
Lisa Marie was widely known to have been utterly broken by the sudden passing of her son, even writing a devastating essay about her grief for People magazine in August 2020 – one month after Benjamin’s death.
“I’ve dealt with death, grief and loss since the age of 9 years old. I’ve had more than anyone’s fair share of it in my lifetime and somehow, I’ve made it this far,” she wrote. “But this one, the death of my beautiful, beautiful son? The sweetest and most incredible being that I have ever had the privilege of knowing, who made me feel so honored every single day to be his mother? […] No. Just no … no no no no …”
While the anniversary of Benjamin’s death on Tuesday was a solemn day for the Presley family, it also marked a happier occasion for Riley – who premiered the trailer for her directorial debut movie War Pony, as well as found out she was nominated for an Emmy for her lead role in TV series Daisy Jones & The Six.
