Morgan Wallen cancels weeks of shows after confirming “bad news” from doctor

Country music star Morgan Wallen has canceled six weeks shows after being handed “bad news” by his doctor.

The 29-year-old took to social media earlier this week on Tuesday to confirm the fact that he would sitting on the sidelines for a while. Reports state that after performing three shows following 10 days of vocal rest, Wallen has re-injured his vocal cords.

The singer added that he has been advised by doctors not to even talk so that he can give himself the smoothest possible route to recovery. He was reportedly told if he “keeps singing,” he could “permanently damage” his voice.

“We’re working on rescheduling all the dates during this time frame,” the Wasted On You artist explained.

“They told me that if I do this the right way, I’ll get back to 100%.”

“I hate it, but I love you guys,” Wallen told his fans. “And I appreciate all the support you always give me.”

The news of Wallen’s date cancellations comes in the wake of fan fury after he canceled a show at the Ole Miss stadium on April 23 following the opening set, minutes before he was due to take the stage.

The singer defended his decision to cancel the show, revealing via an Instagram statement:

“After last night’s show I started losing my voice so I spent the day resting up, talking to my doctor and working through my vocal exercises trying to get better.

“I really thought I’d be able to take the stage and it kills me to deliver this so close to showtime, but my voice is shot and I am unable to sing.”

Not long after Wallen’s statement was made, rumors began to circulate suggesting that the country music artist – who competed in season 6 of The Voice – had canceled his concert simply because he got too drunk the night before.

This was later challenged by the CEO of Morgan’s record label,Seth England, who said the rumor was “laughable”.

“A hired employee of BEST Crowd Management made false claims as it related to last night’s Morgan Wallen concert and we do not stand behind the detail in his statement. Please refer to Morgan’s social media pages for details,” England wrote.

“Thank you @bestcrowdmanagement for correcting your employee, who made up an entire story that was nowhere close to true. Every detail was false. Laughable what some people will just say for a reaction… Don’t Believe Everything You Read.”

Here’s to wishing Morgan Wallen the best moving forward. We hope his vocal cords can heal quickly.
