Mary Was So Close To Getting Discharged From The Mental Hospital

It doesn’t matter who we are or what our lot is in life, we are all going to experience problems at times. Those problems may come in the form of stress or other mental difficulties and for some, they are too much to handle.

When we reach the point where we can’t handle the stress we are under, or if we are facing mental problems that are out of our ability to control, we may find ourselves in a mental hospital.

Although this isn’t a funny situation, it is the basis for a very funny joke.

Life can be difficult and sometimes, we just need to have a good laugh. Consider this your daily dose.

Jim and Mary were both patients in a mental hospital.

One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool, Jim suddenly jumped into the deep end.

He sank to the bottom and stayed there.

Mary promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled Jim out.

When the medical director became aware of Mary’s heroic act, he immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital as he now considered her to be mentally stable.

When he went to tell Mary the news he said, “Mary, I have good news as well as bad news.”

“The good news is, you’re being discharged because since you were able to jump in and save the life of another patient; I think you’ve regained your senses.”

“The bad news is, Jim the patient you saved, hung himself with his bathrobe belt in the bathroom. He’s dead. I’m so sorry.”

Mary replied,

“He didn’t hang himself… I put him there to dry.”
