Jamie Foxx, 55, remains hospitalized one week after “medical complication”

Hollywood A-lister Jamie Foxx remains hospitalized in Georgia almost a week after it was confirmed that he had suffered what has been described as a “medical complication”.

The Django Unchained star’s family confirmed that he was making a recovery having been treated with “great care”.

The Oscar winning actor’s daughter, Corinne Foxx, thanked fans for their support and well-wishes in a statement last week.

“We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday,” Corinne wrote in a post on Instagram.

“Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery.

“We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time. Much love, The Foxx Family.”

Though Foxx himself has not yet spoken on the matter and his family did not provide further details as to how he ended up hospitalized, TMZ say the incident was a medical emergency.

Now, CNN claim that the 55-year-old remains in a Georgia hospital so that he can undergo further tests.

“Nothing further is being provided from the family at this time,” Foxx’s representatives told Fox News Digital last Thursday.

Foxx has been in Atlanta recently filming for the upcoming Netflix movie Back in Action, also starring Cameron Diaz. His health scare is not said to have occurred while on set, and the actor didn’t travel to hospital by way of an emergency vehicle.

Even so, at the time of writing it remains unclear when he will return to work.

Speculating on Foxx’s condition last week, TMZ wrote: “We’re told his condition was serious enough that Jamie’s family – some of whom were not in town – came to the hospital. One source told us, ‘He’s communicating now, and that’s good news’.”

The 55-year-old won an Oscar in 2004 for his portrayal of blind singer Ray Charles in Ray, and has seen his career go from strength to strength since. The Texas-born star has also appeared in flicks such as Jarhead, Django Unchained, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

I for one hope that Foxx is on the mend and that the tests come back to show there’s nothing for him to worry about long-term.
