Jacklyn Zemen, ‘General Hospital’ actress dead at 70 – rest in peace

Jacklyn Zemen was well-known to many of us because to her portrayal of Bobbie Spencer on General Hospital.

Everyone was taken aback and upset when they learned of her passing as she was a star everyone admired.

Executive producer Frank Valentini of General Hospital made a public announcement about it. The renowned show’s producer revealed the information on Twitter.

“On behalf of our @GeneralHospital family, I am heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved @JackieZeman. Just like her character, the legendary Bobbie Spencer, she was a bright light and true professional that brought so much positive energy with her to work,” Valentini wrote in his tweet.

The message went on to express sympathy to Jacklyn’s family, particularly her daughters. “Jackie will be greatly missed, but her positive spirit will always live on with our cast and crew,” he continued. “We send our heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones, friends, and family, especially her daughters Cassidy and Lacey,” the tweet read.

Zeman spent several years portraying Bobbie Spencer on the popular daytime television program General Hospital.

She began portraying the part in 1977 and kept doing so up until her passing. Approximately 880 episodes feature her as Bobbie Spencer to date.

In 1996, General Hospital: Twist of Fate, a TV movie based on the series, featured her as Bobbie Spencer.

Throughout her career, the actress had appearances in a number of television series, including Chicago Hope, The Bay, and One Life to Live.

A prominent actor who briefly appeared in General Hospital in the 1980s, singer Rick Springfield, spoke a few words about the late actress and expressed his sorrow at her departure.

“Incredibly stunned and broken-hearted to hear of Jackie’s passing. Such a truly kind soul with no touch of the diva and only sweet things to say about everyone. She was the one (along with Gloria Monty) who helped launch my 80s career when after the screen test along with several other hopeful young men Gloria asked Jackie who she thought would make a good Noah Drake and God bless her if Jackie didn’t say me,” Springfield shared.

“Love to your spirit as it ascends sweet girl. You left your mark on many of us and you will not be forgotten,” he said.

Jacklyn Zeman is survived by her two daughters.
