A Man Teaches Us All How NOT To Give A Compliment

Ask any man or woman who has been married for more than a few minutes and they will tell you there are certain things that are expected in the relationship. It isn’t a bad thing, it is just something we come to expect.

That fact has been a truth since time began. It is also the beginning of a very funny joke. Like any good humorous story, it has a twist and turn but much of it is based on something we know to be true.

Perhaps the best thing about this joke is that you don’t have to be married to appreciate the humor or the truth behind it. It is just something that is universally understood and universally funny.

Thinking it had been a long time since he had paid her a compliment, she decides to see if she can get one out of him.

“Honey,” she says, “I feel horrible.”

Silence…

“I look old, fat, and ugly.”

More Silence…

Leaving all semblance of subtlety behind her, she bluntly tells him what she wants.

“I could really use a compliment right now!”

Finally taking his cue, the husband replies,

“Your eyesight is darn near perfect.”
