The incredible tale of a dog struggling for his life while suffering from hydrocephalus

Herbie is an 11 week old French Bulldog born with a problem and needs special care that’s why when it was born its breeder didn’t want to take care of it and that’s it. why they brought it to Road Dogs & Rescue more than a month ago.

The problem is that Herbie has hydrocephalus, a disease that causes increased fluid in the brain and requires ongoing and possibly life-ending treatment.

At the shelter, they took him to a veterinary neurologist, who prescribed the medication needed to reduce the fluid in his brain, although he also informed them that he surgery may be needed but they won’t be able to do it until he is 6 months old.

This is Herbie, his head is a bit swollen from hydrocephalus.

According to Nikki Carvey of Road Dogs & Rescue, Herbie is as happy as any puppy, but he cannot stand or walk due to illness and because the weight of his head makes it impossible for him to keep his balance.

Herbie is very young, only 11 weeks old, but her spirit is huge.

Although Herbie can’t move on his own, that doesn’t seem to dampen his desire to play ball, bite his fingers or eat food.

That is why they decided to start working with him in physical therapy so that his muscles develop normally until he is operated on.

The little one is currently in Two Hands Four Paws , a canine rehabilitation clinic, where he will be for 10 days. His treatment is complete, including hydrotherapy, acupuncture and even has a walker to walk.

And he even has an acupuncture session!

“The goal is to get him back to being able to stand and walk on his own so he has a good quality of life,” Carvey said. “We hope that the surgery that he will have when he is 6 months old will give him the opportunity to have a long and happy life.”

Despite his problems, Herbie is happy and has shown that someone as small as him can be a tremendous fighter.
