NCIS season 18 release: CBS confirm return after Kasie Hines star teases updates

Kasie Hines (played by Diona Reasonover) has quickly become a fan-favourite on NCIS in the years since she made her debut as Ducky’s (David McCallum) graduate assistant in season 15. Therefore, fans of the hit crime drama will be excited to see Kasie back in season 18 alongside the likes of Gibbs (Mark Harmon), Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) and Bishop (Emily Wickersham) for another series of the his CBS drama.

NCIS has been hit by a series of production issues and delays as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and the guidelines which have been released as a result.

The outbreak impacted season 17 massively, with the episode count being reduced from 24 to 20 and postponing the highly-anticipated 400th episode.

It also put filming and production on the 18th season on hold, with NCIS omitted from the CBS fall schedule for September and October.

However CBS have now conirmed the series will be back in just over a month as they shared the premiere date on Twitter.

They posted: “Facts are facts. Season 18 of #NCIS premieres Nov. 17th on @CBS.”

Unsurprisingly fans were thrilled with the news and rushed to reply with one commenting: “I am so happy about this and it premieres 3 days after my birthday thank you CBS! Cannot wait for season 18 and episode 400.”

Another shared: “Thank you. This is the good news I needed right now because life is pretty rough.”

“Another wow, NCIS is back again too. All I would miss is Ziva and Tony. Maybe there will be a surprise, let’s see,” a third tweeted.

The news came after Kasie star Hines took to her Instagram Stories earlier this week to drop a hint of when the premiere may be.

On her social media page [via CarterMatt], Hines hinted the premiere episode for the new season could air in November.

However, with the drama airing on Tuesday evenings, there are only a few guesses as to when episode one may air.

Considering the US Presidential Election takes place on November 3, it’s highly unlikely NCIS will return on the first Tuesday of the month.

Considering the US Presidential Election takes place on November 3, it was highly unlikely NCIS will return on the first Tuesday of the month.

It’s therefore no surprise that it will return on November 17.

Meanwhile, spin-offs New Orleans and Los Angeles are yet to be given a release date.

One thing that is for sure, is there’s plenty of drama on its way to keep viewers entertained, particularly the imminent exit of Jack Sloane (Maria Bello) after her exit was confirmed earlier this year.

Actor Bello has decided to depart the show after three seasons alongside the likes of Gibbs and co.

Although exactly how she’ll exit the show is currently shrouded in mystery.

After years of a will-they-won’t-they romance with Gibbs, the NCIS leading man looks like he’ll be set for heartbreak no matter how she leaves.

It’s something showrunner Frank Cardea has addressed as he hinted Gibbs and Sloane’s story will have a definitive ending.

He told TV Line: “When we’re trying to figure out how to exit a character, one thing we always ask is: ‘What does that character deserve?’

“And the character of Sloane is a very strong character and a passionate character.

“So we’re going to really have her go on something worthy of that.”

NCIS season 18 is predicted to air on CBS in late-2020.
