Following her introduction to the CBS series in season four, NCIS fans witnessed Jeanne Benoit (played by Scottie Thompson) become romantically involved with agent Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly). There was just one problem with their romance, however, as Tony was acting undercover and using Jeanne to get closer to her father.
Tony went under the alias Tony DiNardo but his cover was soon blown, leaving Jeanne heartbroken.
Jeanne briefly returned the following season after the death of her dad and sought answers.
She would then disappear for a number of years, making a brief return in seasons five and 13.
Overall, she popped up in just a dozen and a half episode, so where does the plot hole lie? Well, she recently popped up in spin-off series NCIS: Los Angeles.

Four years after her last appearance in NCIS, Jeanne appeared in the same universe in LA.
However, she wasn’t back at Jeanne but was instead introduced as DIA agent Sarah Raines.
Surely someone would recognise Jeanne cosnidering the two series exist in the same universe? Or what happened to her for her to pop again under a completely new identity?
Of course, the reasonable explanation would be that the series simply reused the same actor for two different roles.

But considering fans are to believe both series exist in the same world, this opens up quite a big plot hole.
And not everybody is best pleased with the decision as some fans took to Reddit to express their disappointment at the casting choice.
Under thread ‘NCIS: LA constantly using old NCIS Character actors’, user dodgers_ explains.
The user vented: “Ok, for a while I was ok with it when it came to smaller characters but this is ridiculous.
“After watching last night’s new NCIS: LA, I know for some reason the producers or whoever won’t work together.
“And a job is a job but seeing Scottie Thompson aka Jeanne Benoit (seriously? Jeanne Benoit) playing a DIA agent in NCIS: LA has officially killed that show for me.
“When I saw Melinda McGraw (Diane Fornell) play someone in NCIS: NO, I was bothered. But Jeanne Benoit!!!!!
“A job is a job and when you have been on the air for 17 you are bound to duplicate actors but come on!!!”
Scottie has enjoyed a number of stints on a handful of other TV shows post-NCIS.
This year she landed bit-part roles on 9-1-1 and crime series MacGyver.
Shortly after her NCIS departure, she also landed a recurring role in Syfy hit, 12 Monkeys.
NCIS continues every Tuesday on CBS.
