Meghan and Harry’s Christmas card ‘up in the air’ – as Palace gives update

Plans for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s 2019 Christmas card are still being finalised, Mirror Online can reveal.

It comes as Royal Family fans eagerly await the annual seasons greeting photo – which they hope this year will feature baby Archie.

The Duke, 35, and Duchess of Sussex, 38, are currently taking a six-week break from duties, and whether they even plan to release a card has not yet been confirmed.

When asked, if, and when, the Sussex’s card would be shared with the public, a Kensington Palace spokeswoman told Mirror Online: “We haven’t finalised plans yet.”

Rumours are however still swirling the card will be released this week – with speculation there will be a ‘twist’ to it.

Last year, the card was made public on December 14.

It featured a black and white photograph showing the couple as they watched fireworks at their wedding reception at Frogmore House on 19th May.

A tweet on the Kensington Palace Twitter at the time read: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are delighted to share a new photograph from their Wedding Reception at Frogmore House on 19th May.

“The photograph, which features on Their Royal Highnesses’ Christmas card, was taken by photographer Chris Allerton.”

One insider has claimed this year’s card will have a “selection of family photographs” taken along with their son Achie.

Another source said it may also include Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland.

They told E! News: “Harry and Meghan are said to want [to] ensure that some of their Christmas card images reflect that Doria is very much part of their family and of Archie’s upbringing.

“It is a break with protocol from traditional royal Christmas cards, which haven’t historically included grandparents.

“For instance, Kate’s parents — Carole Middleton and Michael Middleton — have never appeared on any of their Christmas card images.”

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, also share a Christmas card each year with children Prince George, six, Princess Charlotte, four, and Prince Louis, one.

Their Christmas card is also yet to be released.

Meanwhile, this Christmas will be Harry and Meghan’s first as parents to Archie.

They are spending it in California with the Duchess’s mum.

Traditionally the whole Royal Family go to Sandringham with the Queen.

However, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month.
